About

Welcome to Blue Door Bicycles cycle shop Crystal Palace!

We are a friendly cycle shop Crystal Palace Central Hill, South East London (close to the top of Gipsy Hill). We open 8am – 6.30pm Monday – Friday,  Saturday 9am – 5.30 pm,  Sundays 10am – 5pm. Our Online shop (run with Raleigh) is open 24/7 . Our premises have been a bike shop since the 1920s and we are pleased to be building on a cycling heritage built up for almost 100 years at the same site – see www.centralcycle.co.uk. Blue Door Bicycles aims to be welcoming to both experienced cyclists and those new to cycling. We sell bikes and accessories and repair and service bikes. The brands we sell include bikes from DahonDawesKogaRaleigh, Tern, Pashley – and our own Talbot Frameworks. We stock  parts and accessories including Brooks, Carradice, Continental, Hope, Schwalbe and Shimano. For for details of what we sell click here. We are now producing hand built wheels and  frames on the premises.  The wheels are branded ‘Talbot Wheelworks‘ and the frames  ’Talbot Frameworks‘ – recalling the Talbot family who ran a bike shop at 7 Central Hill from 1949 until 2010. 10338464_301780046655560_4935729393317209502_o We look forward to seeing you!

  1. Hi. I have just been looking at your website, and seen vast improvements to the shop from when it was known as Central Cycles. When the Talbot family ran things, it was a bit of a mix and match service. Bikes, cars, hoovers, etc. An old fashioned till, with the ceiling falling apart. The till was the sort that was not much bigger than a shoe box! Now, there is a good range of bikes, spares, accessories, clothing, etc. from items of clothing for the novice, to lycras for the more serious cyclists such as myself! I used to live in Crystal Palace, and under the old name that the shop used to trade, I often gave them my custom. I now live in Waddon, and am spoilt for choice including Halford’s on the Purley Way! Rest assured though, should I be passing through that way, and need anything for either of my two bikes, shall pop in and give you my custom! I didn’t see any of the lights that you sell. I am terrible for my lights! A walking, talking Christmas tree on two wheels, that’s me! Anyway, now you have read my comments about what I think of the transformation of your shop. Who knows? I might even buy stuff from you on line!
Bye for now , and keep up the good work!

    Derek Evans.

    • Thanks Derek! We are building on a lot of history – you may have seen the Centralcycle.co.uk website that says more about this.

We stock mainly Cateye lights in the shop but also have Moon and other brands for particular lights (eg helmet lights). We sell on line with Raleigh – so you will find a different selection on line compared with in store.

We have remembered the Talbot family in the bike frames and wheels we make here – Talbot Frameworks and Talbot Wheelworks.

      David
